علي عبد الله جابر السعيدي (27 أغسطس 1953 / ذي الحجة 1373 هـ - 13 ديسمبر 2005 /12 ذي القعدة 1426 هـ) إمام الحرم المكي من الفترة من 1401 هـ - 1409 هـ تخللها فترة سفر إلى كندا ترك الإمامة رسمياً في عام 1402 هـ وعاد ليكون مكلفاً للإمامة عام 1406 هـ حتى 1409 هـ إثر مرض ألم به منذ فترة طويلة، ومدرساً في الفقه المقارن بقسم الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة الملك عبد العزيز بجدة. ولد علي جابر في مدينة جدة عام 1373 هـ في شهر ذي الحجة، انتقل إلى المدينة المنورة مع والديه عند بلوغه الخامسة من العمر.

أحب تلاوته ملايين المسلمين وقلده الكثير من الأئمة بسبب أسلوب تلاوته المميزة، لم تكن لديه رغبة في الإمامة مطلقا ولكن أقحم فيها إقحاما وقد كان الباعث الأساسي على حفظ كتاب الله إنما حفظه وتعقله وتدبر معانيه، ولم يكن المقصود منه أن يكون به إماماً، ولكن شاءت الإرادة الربانية والحكمة الإلهية أن يتولى الإمامة في مسجد الغمامة بالمدينة النبوية سنتين متتاليتين: (1394- 1396 هـ).

لفت إليه أنظار المسلمين من جميع أنحاء العالم فقد آتى الله الشيخ صوتاً شجياً جميلاً في قراءة القرآن وتجويده حتى كان أعجوبة عند الناس، وقد فقد صوته فترة خضع فيها للعلاج، بعد خروجه مع الملك خالد إلى المسجد الحرام وقدمه للصلاة عند تعيينه بالحرم. ترك الإمامة في المسجد الحرام بعد عام 1409 هـ ولم يلتزم بالإمامة في مسجد آخر، وإنما كان المصلون يطلبون منه التقدم للصلاة بهم في عدة مساجد إذا كان الشيخ موجوداً عند إقامة الصلاة. وكان يطلب من الشيخ إمامة الناس بالتراويح في مسجد بقشان بجدة بحكم أنه أقرب المساجد إلى بيت الشيخ وكونه مسجداً جامعاً. وقد أم الشيخ فيه المصلين عام 1410 هـ وبعده بعدة سنوات ثم أن الشيخ أتعبه المرض فلم يقدر على الوقوف طويلاً فكان يصلي نصف الصلاة ويكمل الصلاة معه شاب آخر، ثم لم يعد الشيخ يؤم بالناس التراويح لأن الوقوف يثقل عليه.

كان حلم الشيخ علي جابر أن يحصل على الدكتوراه بعد حصوله على الماجستير عام 1400 هـ، بعد انقطاع دام سنوات عديدة، لكنه استطاع أن يتقدم بأطروحته في الفقه المقارن لنيل درجة الدكتوراه في رسالته بعنوان فقه القاسم بن محمد بن أبي بكر الصديق التي نوقشت في الثاني والعشرين من شهر رمضان المبارك عام 1407 هـ وحصل بموجبها على مرتبة الشرف الأولى. حصل على الدكتوراه وفي الوقت نفسه كان إماماً لصلاة التراويح في المسجد الحرام، ثم أصبح بعد ذلك عضواً من أعضاء التدريس بجامعة الملك عبد العزيز بجدة حيث يدرس الفقه المقارن.

Ali Abdullah Jaber Al-Saeedi (August 27, 1953 / Dhu al-Hijjah 1373 AH - December 13 2005/12 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1426 AH) Imam of the Great Mosque of Mecca from the period from 1401 AH - 1409 AH, during which a period of travel to Canada left the imamate officially in 1402 AH and returned to be Assigned to the Imamate in 1406 AH until 1409 AH due to a long-standing illness, and a teacher of comparative jurisprudence at the Department of Islamic Studies at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. Ali Jaber was born in Jeddah in 1373 AH in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. He moved to Medina with his parents upon reaching the age of five.

His recitation was loved by millions of Muslims and many imams imitated it because of his distinctive style of recitation. The divine wisdom and the divine wisdom is to assume the imamate in the Al-Ghamamah Mosque in Madinah for two consecutive years: (1394-1396 AH).

He drew the attention of Muslims from all over the world, as God the Sheikh gave him a beautiful voice in reading the Qur’an and reciting it as a miracle for people, and he lost his voice for a period during which he underwent treatment, after he went out with King Khalid to the Grand Mosque and presented it to pray upon his appointment in the Haram. He left the imamate in the Grand Mosque after the year 1409 AH and did not adhere to the imamate in another mosque. He used to ask the sheikh to lead the people in Taraweeh in the Bugshan Mosque in Jeddah by virtue of the fact that it is the closest mosque to the Sheikh’s house and it is a collegiate mosque. The sheikh was the mother of the worshipers in it in 1410 AH and after several years, then the sheikh was tired of illness and was not able to stand for long, so he used to pray half the prayer and complete the prayer with another young man, then the sheikh did not lead the people with Taraweeh because standing was too heavy for him.

Sheikh Ali Jaber's dream was to obtain a doctorate after obtaining a master's degree in 1400 AH, after a hiatus of many years, but he was able to submit his thesis in comparative jurisprudence to obtain a doctorate in his thesis entitled The Jurisprudence of Al-Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq, which was discussed on the twenty-second. From the blessed month of Ramadan in 1407 AH, according to which he was awarded the first class honors. He obtained a doctorate and at the same time he was the Imam of Tarawih prayers at the Grand Mosque, and then he became a member of the teaching staff at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, where he studies comparative jurisprudence.
